E. Kent Oglethorpe, son of James B. and Nannie C. Oglethorpe, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1994, at his home.
Kent graduated from Granby High School and Northwestern University with honors and was a partner in J.B. Oglethorpe & Co., CPAs. He was affiliated with Gideons International, Owens Masonic Lodge (NU)164, AF & AM, and actively participated in various prayer groups. Mr. Oglethorpe attended Bayview Baptist Church and loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; four daughters, Karen Baldwin, Kathy Perrie, Robin Minter and Gayle Wooten; a brother, James B. Oglethorpe; and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994 at 11 a.m. in Bayview Baptist Church. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
