OMER E. CALLAHAN

Omer Edward Callahan, 72, of the 8000 block of East Glen Road, a retired crane operator, died Nov. 24, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mr. Callahan was born in Amy, Mo., and was a Catholic. He was retired from the Newport News shipyard and was retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years. He served in World War II and the Korean War and was a member of Fleet Reserve (NU)60.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen D. Callahan; a daughter, Melissa Jean Reece of Sugarland, Texas; three sons, Kelly John Callahan of Hampton, Scott Glen Callahan of Chesapeake and Robert Allen Callahan of Virginia Beach; four sisters; three brothers; and six grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Paul Huber. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Virginia.
