Genevieve Taylor Jernigan, 69, a Portsmouth resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.
A native of Nallen, W.Va., she was the widow of Carlton L. Jernigan. She was retired from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. She was a member of Bay's Chapel Methodist Church, Nallen, and was a former officer in the Civil Air Patrol.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Tripp of Suffolk; three sons, Gary E. Smith of Virginia Beach, William E. Smith of Rock Hill, S.C., and Robert L. Smith of Lexington, N.C.; a brother, Gerald E. Taylor of Buckhannan, W.Va.; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. U.G. Robertson. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
