Recent reports on the importance of lowering cholesterol levels might cause some people to try a vegetarian diet. Studies have shown that vegetarians have lower cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, less body fat, less incidence of cancer and longer life spans. They are also at a much lower risk for heart disease, the leading cause of death of American adults.
Vegetarians I know are amazed at how much better they feel and how much more energy they have since they've stopped eating meat. (They also like saving money on food bills.)
It is so easy to switch to a vegetarian diet: Simply cut back on meat until you've eliminated it altogether. It is amazing how many non-meat foods there are with more than enough protein for a healthy diet.
The health benefits of a vegetarian diet are tremendous.
