Taking advantage of the closing of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River to boat traffic, The Chesapeake Traffic Engineering has scheduled repairs on two of the city's bridges.
The Gilmerton Bridge on South Military Highway will be closed from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. Commuters using the Gilmerton Bridge will be routed via Interstates 464 and 64 and George Washington Highway.
The Dominion Boulevard Steel Bridge will be closed from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, for repairs to the bridge span. Dominion Boulevard traffic will be detoured via Great Bridge Boulevard, Battlefield Boulevard and Cedar Road. by CNB
