The Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council will sponsor an awards program to honor individuals and organizations who have conducted outstanding programs in litter control, recycling or beautification in the city during the past year.
The awards will include:
Certificates of appreciation for individuals or groups who have significantly helped reduce litter in Chesapeake.
Outstanding achievement awards for individuals or groups who contributed to the council's litter control, recycling or beautification programs.
The Mayor's Outstanding Service Award for an outstanding volunteer, individual or organization who has made a significant contribution to promoting environmental improvement for citizens.
Entries must be based on activities conducted between Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 and must be received by Jan. 13. Entries should be mailed to the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council, P.O. Box 15225, Chesapeake, Va. 23328.
Winning entries will be recognized at a ceremony March 1.
