She won two bouts against cancer, beating it in 1979 and 1985.
The Sun profiled her four years ago, telling of her work with the American Cancer Society and with cancer patients at Obici Hospital.
For personal reasons, she had to stop her volunteer efforts about three years ago.
She is still at Obici, though. A certified surgical technician, she works in the operating room.
Her years as a volunteer were inspired by her own experiences.

1. This comedian was called The Perfect Fool. He was known for such crazy inventions as the 11-foot pole for people who wouldn't touch anything with a 10-foot pole. His Emmy win, however, was for a dramatic role. Hint: His son was a well-known character actor.
2. Who was the nation's heaviest president? OK, maybe you know that, but how much did he weigh at his inaugural?
3. Two famous Hollywood golden-age stars had boats with the same name - Santana. Not-too-helpful hint: One of the men bought his boat from Dick Powell, paying him $55,000.
4. If geography is your thing this should be a no-sweat trivia item: Name the four seas that are named after colors.
5. James Cagney starred as George M. Cohan in the 1942 movie, ``Yankee Doodle Dandy'' - his favorite role, by the way. The woman who portrayed his mom was actually 14 years younger than Cagney. Name, please? MEMO: Answers are on Page 8
