The Kempsville High School Marching Chiefs took first place at the CMBC U.S. Scholastic Championship, a national marching band competition, on Nov. 11 at the Meadowlands Complex in New Jersey.
Director of the Marching Chiefs is William E. Pease. Student leaders are Kristian Livernois and Sean McCrosky, drum majors, and Monique Harris, guard captain. The band earned the following awards: Best Overall Music, Best Overall Effect, Best Overall Auxiliary and Best Overall Marching.
The Marching Chiefs also were honored this year by an invitation to perform at a Washington Redskins halftime show. by CNB
