The Commonwealth Transportation Board of the Virginia Department of Transportation has awarded a $905,000 contract to B.P. Short & Son Paving Co. of Petersburg to widen and improve Gates Road.
The 3.3-mile project will widen the travel lanes from 9 to 11 feet and build 6-foot emergency shoulders. A box culvert also will be installed to improve drainage. by CNB
