Local police are seeking public assistance in solving these cases:
CHESAPEAKE
On Nov. 20, about 9:30 a.m., an inspector was examining a well in the 1400 block of Ballahack Road when he was approached by two men.
Both seemed to be friendly, so the man continued with the inspection. Suddenly, one of the men struck him on his head from behind with a piece of wood. They then took his money.
The men are described as black and in their 20s. They were seen leaving in a white, 1970s Chevrolet or GMC pickup with rust spots. It had North Carolina license plates.
VIRGINIA BEACH
On Saturday night, Nov. 5, thieves pried open the front door of Galaxy Computers Inc. at 423 South Lynnhaven Road.
They stole more than $32,000 in computer parts, including 25 desktop computers, other computer parts, a Sony CD player and several music discs.
Detectives said the thieves apparently had a good knowledge of computers and took only the most valuable items.
The getaway vehicle was believed to be parked in the neighborhood behind the business.
NORFOLK
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 2:30 a.m., Quincy Lee Jones, 21, of the 2500 block of Jamaica Ave., was standing in the 2300 block of Cary Ave. when a white Mitsubishi Galant pulled to the curb.
Two men got out of the car and attempted to rob Jones. There was a struggle, and Jones was shot several times.
Paramedics took Jones to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Police are searching for four men, all described as black and in their early to late 20s and believed to be riding in the Mitsubishi Galant. The car was recovered later.
On Wednesday, July 27, David Lee Tracy, 38, of the 4000 block of Flowerfield Road, suffered a serious head injury.
The injury occurred while Tracy was playing basketball at City Park in the 3300 block of Granby Street.
The victim doesn't know how the injury happened. It appears Tracy may have suffered a blow to the head.
HAMPTON
About 7 p.m. on Nov. 12, the night of the Downtown Chili Cook-Off, a 31-year-old woman parked her vehicle near the teller window of the Old Point Bank at Wine and Queen streets.
As she was about to leave her vehicle, she was approached by a man with a gun.
The man poked the weapon in the victim's ribs and demanded that she move over. The victim screamed, and the gunman ran.
The suspect is described as black, 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He had a medium complexion with bad skin and a day's growth of facial hair.
He was wearing a long, quilted black overcoat and left a plaid hat at the scene. by CNB
