When is the Virginia Republican Party going to wise up?

The results of the past two elections should have pointed out something very obvious: The people of Virginia don't want to go to the extreme right.

A very savvy electorate split the ticket in the gubernatorial election and didn't fall for the emotional whining of its senatorial candidate. (Likewise, Pat Robertson didn't make it as the national GOP's nominee in the presidential elections.)

Virginia Republicans should listen to Sen. John Warner's recent declaration of ``no confidence.'' The senator's allegiance to Marshall Coleman was an absolutely courageous act. His endeavor illustrates his commitment to the best interests of his constituents. Instead of chastising him, Virginia Republicans should follow his lead.
