Ruth Patricia Hannon, 85, of the 600 block of Rutherford Drive, died Saturday in a Portsmouth Convalescent Home.
Mrs. Hannon was born in Fall River, Mass., and was the widow of James Robert Hannon. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ellen Foley Ashworth.
Mrs. Hannon had last been employed during the sixties as a registered nurse in Union Hospital, Fall River, Mass. Prior to that she had worked from 1941 to 1960 as an industrial nurse at the Sagamore Manufacturing Company also in Fall River, Mass.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Williams of Chesapeake; three sisters, Sister Immaculata Ashworth, S.U.S.C. and Sister Joseph Dolores Ashworth, S.U.S.C., both of Sacred Heart Convent, Fall River, Mass. and Grace O'Connell of Providence, R.I.; two grandchildren, Kevin Michael Williams and Heather Maureen Williams.
A funeral mass will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Chesapeake. Rev. Christian Haydinger will officiate. The body will be sent to the Harrington-Sullivan Funeral Home, Fall River for a committal service and burial to be held on Thursday at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. The family will receive friends during a reception at the church immediately following the funeral mass. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sacred Heart Convent, Holy Union Sisters, Prospect Street, Fall River, Mass. Oman Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is handling the arrangements.
