DR. RAMONA B. STENZHORN

Dr. Ramona Boone Stenzhorn, 52, of the 800 block of Los Conaes Way, died Nov. 25, 1994, in Fairfax.

Dr. Stenzhorn was born in Tompkinsville, Ky. She was a Baptist. She was a graduate of duPont Manual High School, University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science Degree; The College of William and Mary with a Master's degree and Doctor of Education Degree. She was employed as a teacher with Kempsville Elementary School from 1964-1967; guidance counselor with Kellam High School from 1967-1968; principal with Shelton Park Elementary School from 1968-1974; the Staff Development Coordinator/Personnel Department Administrator for Virginia Beach Public Schools from 1974-1981; principal of Linkhorn Elementary School from 1981-1988; principal Rosemont Elementary School 1988-1989; adjunct professor at George Washington University, Hampton Centre from 1988 to present; principal Virginia Beach Junior High School from 1989-1991 and was currently principal of Salem High School since 1991. She was a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals; Business and Professional Women's Club; Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development; National Association of Elementary School Principals; Second District Women's Political Caucus; National Staff Development Council (charter member); Delta Kappa Gamma Society International; American Association of University Women; Phi Delta Kappa Honorary Fraternity; Zonta Club of Virginia Beach-Chesapeake (charter member); Outstanding Young Women in America; honorary life member of the Virginia Parent-Teacher Association and the National Congress of Parents and Teachers; Order of Kentucky Colonels; Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society; Administrator of the Year (1978); Trophy for Democratic Party Leadership; Dissertation Recognized as Exemplary by VPI; appointed to Virginia's Board for Licensing of Professional Counselors by Governor Baliles (1988), chair of Discipline Committee and published ``An Examination of Androgynous Traits as Demonstrated By Public School Building Administrators.''

Survivors include her husband, Robert P. Stenzhorn; two stepsons, William R. Stenzhorn of Springfield and Robert P. Stenzhorn of Hampton; a sister, Juanita B. Wisman of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Witt Boone of Louisville, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Virginia Beach United Methodist Church by the Rev. Paul C. Bailey and the Rev. James K. Mahaffey. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, today from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
