OFFENDED BY THE OFFENDED

The regional NAACP's demand that U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms resign because of his recent comments regarding the president is understandable; however, Chairman Paul Gillis' remarks are equally appalling:

``We are concerned that some demented person in our military will go out and make an attack on our president because of Senator Helms' statement.''

I consider this statement ludicrous and insulting to the women and men of the U.S. Armed Forces. Honor and loyalty make our military the superior force that protects the rights and privileges of all Americans and most of the Free World.

God bless our commander in chief and the brave men and women who faithfully defend our American way of life.
