Robert F. Yeomans has taken over as administrator at Riverside Convalescent Center-Smithfield.
He comes to Riverside from Saluda, where he was administrator for a 60-bed nursing facility, also owned by Riverside.
He has worked for Riverside seven years.
On any given day, Yeomans, 40, says he is met by a variety of challenges. For example, he may have to deal with an issue concerning the nursing practice or a personnel problem may arise with one or more of the 75 employees.
``There's a variety of questions that come up on a day-to-day basis that keep this job challenging and interesting,'' he said.
Yeomans said the move to Smithfield was a chance to move up to a larger facility - 95 nursing home beds and 34 beds for assisted living. Riverside is adding 36 more beds to the assisted living area of the center, he said.
Yeomans said assisted living quarters have become a very popular alternative for people who really don't need nursing home care, but still require some form of lower level care.
