Barbara Jean Whitley, 52, of the 200 block of Huyler St., died Nov. 26, 1994, at home.
She was born in Portsmouth, Va., was a 1960 graduate of I.C. Norcom High School and a 1965 graduate of Norfolk State University in business administration. She was a member of Metropolitan AME Church in New York City. She was a clerk at Harlem Hospital and a medical technician at Met Pack Pharmaceutical Co.
Survivors include a daughter, Keitha Whitley of Hackensack; her mother, Arlethia W. Whitley of Portsmouth; her father, Arthur Keene of Portsmouth; three sisters, Gloria Johnson of Chesapeake, Beverly Kelley and Arlethia Biggs, both of Portsmouth; a brother, Tyrone Eugene Whitley of Virginia Beach; two aunts and two uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Noble Street Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Ronnie T. Northam. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing will begin at noon Thursday in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The body will be taken to church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at the home of her mother, 117 Wall St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
