Lawrence Frederick Shaffer Jr., 84, of 191 High Hammock Villa, died Nov. 27, 1994, in Charleston, S.C.
A native of Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Lawrence F. and Alberta White Shaffer.
Mr. Shaffer was a retired salesman of orthopedic and surgical equipment. He was a graduate of William and Mary and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Punta Gorda, Fla.
While living in Suffolk, Va., he served on the Suffolk City Council. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club and a former Rotarian.
He is survived by his wfe, Mary Holmes Butler Shaffer; two daughters, Cathy S. Bennett and Anne S. Keenan; two sons, Lawrence F. Shaffer III and William H. Shaffer; four grandsons, Lawrence F. Shaffer IV, Scott H. Shaffer, William H. Shaffer Jr., and Robert M. Fortner; one granddaughter, Betty Anne S. Kresge; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, Va., by Dr. Alan Felumlee. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. R.W. Baker & Company Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
