Ethel Ackiss Midgette, 89, of West Belvedere Road, died Nov. 29, 1994, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Midgette was born in Creeds, Princess Anne County, Va., and was the widow of John Cantwell Midgette. She was a member of Belvedere Garden Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Midgette Sinkez and her husband, George of Virginia Beach; a son, Cmdr. John Cantwell Midgett Jr., USCG (Ret.), and his wife, Elizabeth of Virginia Beach; a sister, Florence Taylor Nickerson of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Stephen George Sinkez and wife, Renee Meert of Woodbridge, Va., Gordan William Sinkez and wife, Cynthia Brewington of Richmond, Va., John Cantwell Midgett III of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Michelle Midgett of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and David Oliver Midgett of Virginia Beach; four great-granchildren, Kristine Renee Sinkez, Matthew Alexander Sinkez, Lauren Anne Sinkez and Christopher George Sinkez. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anita Ackiss Ellis.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. Keith Martin. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
