ROBERT E. COVINGTON

Robert Edward Covington, 78, of the 2300 block of Tapscott Ave., a retired shipfitter, died Monday, Nov. 28, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mr. Covington was born in the Berkley section of Norfolk and retired 17 years ago from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 36 years of service. He was a member of New Central Baptist Church in Berkley and the Deacon Board.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine T. Covington of the home; a sister, Savada Taylor of Norfolk; two brothers, William Covington of Chesapeake and Junius Covington of Los Angeles; and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in New Central Baptist Church, Berkley, by the Rev. Dr. Edward Whittaker and the Rev. Dr. Freddie Barnes. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. today. The body will be placed in church at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Chatman Funeral Home, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
