SUBSIDIARY OF AT&T WIRELESS SPINS OFF TV UNIT

LIN Broadcasting Corp., whose majority owner is AT&T Wireless Services, will spin off its LIN Television unit on Dec. 28. LIN Broadcasting shareholders will receive one share of LIN Television common stock for every two shares of LIN Broadcasting stock they own on Dec. 9. LIN Television owns six network-affiliated television stations in cities that include WAVY-TV in Portsmouth; Dallas-Fort Worth and Indianapolis. The Federal Communications Commission has approved both the spinoff, of which WAVY-TV will be a part, and the WTNH acquisition, expected to be finalized Dec. 27. AT&T Wireless, the cellular arm of AT&T Corp. that used to be McCaw Cellular Communications, owns 52 percent of LIN Broadcasting. (AP) by CNB
