Here's one for the holidays: A Christmas Eve robbery. In ``Trapped in Paradise,'' Nicolas Cage, Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz play ex-cons - brothers from the big city who think it would be a snap to rob the rubes. They don't take into account the street-smarts of small-town America. You guessed it. They're foiled by the good-hearted locals. Can kindness, though, warm the heart of a New Yorker? Find out for the price of a ticket.

Those tippy-toe mice and stiff-legged toy soldiers are at it again. Old Dominion University Ballet's annual holiday production of ``The Nutcracker'' will be performed Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at Virginia Beach Pavilion Theater.
Two star dancers were flown in from Russia, including Virginia Beach native Ryan Martin, a graduate of the Kirov Ballet Academy. These days, he is a soloist with the Makarov troupe in St. Petersburg, where Tchaikovsky's popular ballet was first staged a century ago. Martin will perform with Japanese-born Chika Temma, also a Makarov soloist.
``The Nutcracker'' also is set for 8 p.m. Dec. 10 and 3 p.m. Dec. 11 at Chrysler Hall. Tickets are $10 to $22; discounts available. For the Beach performances, call 428-8000; for Norfolk, 441-2161.

They're called Anonymous 4, but legions of CD buyers know exactly who they are. The female vocal quartet produces seamlessly blended performances of medieval music. Their ``An English Ladymass'' sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide - ``Sgt. Pepper'' staus for a classical disc - and was named Classical Disc of the Year by CD Magazine. Thursday they appear at the area's finest concert hall, Hampton University's Ogden Hall, as part of the Hampton Arts Commission's Great Performers series. Their program, ``On Yoolis Night,'' includes English Christmas music from the 13th to the 15th centuries. Tickets $8-$15. 722-ARTS.
