You never cease to amaze me with your allegiance to cultural programs. Seduced you are, I suppose, by the illusion of out-of-town, ``famous,'' celebrated events.
Specifically, I refer to dance events. I watched in amazement as the Moscow State Ballet commanded our attention via the media hype of radio, journalism and, finally, sellout performances at Willett Hall. And what did we get? Certainly not quality dance. Certainly not remarkable dance. The lesson learned: The experts in this case are not from out of town.
I invite local media to support our community efforts, namely the Old Dominion University Ballet's ``Nutcracker,'' directed by Istvan and Nelli Ament. Viewers will be pleased, delighted, impressed and know they have witnessed exceptional dance.
Redeem yourself and give this community dance company, which happens to be of outstanding quality, more priority by your encouragement - not just a token review at the end of the run.
Go ahead and get tickets to ODU's ``Nutcracker,'' Dec. 3-4 at the Virginia Beach Pavilion or Dec. 9-10 at the Norfolk Scope. You will be astounded, surprised and excited by this exceptional energy, choreography and talent for dance. See you there!
