Secretary of State Warren Christopher dismissed as incorrect Friday reports that NATO had decided to stop enforcing a U.N. no-fly zone over Bosnia.
However, as part of a ``cooling-off'' period, NATO jets have stopped flying over Bosnia, said Wing Cmdr. Timothy Hewlet, the U.N. director for air operations in Bosnia. The NATO jets still are monitoring the skies with AWACS radar planes flying outside Bosnian air space, Hewlet said.
The ban on military flights is designed to protect civilians from bombardment in the 31-month war.
Christopher said that Serb anti-missile batteries pose a problem. But, he said, NATO is capable of dealing with them. by CNB
