CONSTRUCTION

John Yannitello was promoted from project superintendent to general superintendent with Oyster Point Construction Co. in Newport News. Yannitello has supervised several project with the construction company for more than six years.

ENGINEERING

Prokopi S. Prokopiev was appointed a project engineer with Glenn and Sadler Associates in Norfolk. Prokopiev was a project manager with Stroud Pence & Associates in Virginia Beach.

David M. Sammons was appointed a project engineer with the structural engineering firm of McPherson & Associates in Portsmouth. Sammons was a senior associate with Stroud Pence & Associates in Virginia Beach.

GOVERNMENT

Chancey W. Walker III was named to the state board for contractors for a four year appointment as the heating and air conditioning representative. Walker is vice president and HVAC director with John Brothers Inc. in Norfolk.

HOSPITALITY

Gerry Garey was appointed general manager with Phillips Waterside in Norfolk. Garey has been a corporate labor cost analyst with the seafood restaurant for the past four years.

MID-ATLANTIC

David Jones has been named president of Primary Electric Co., a Fairfax-based company with branches in Richmond and Norfolk. He replaces Mike Berard, who was named company chairman. Jones joined the company in 1988 and previously served as executive vice president.

Burlington Industries Inc., a global maker of textiles based in Greensboro, N.C., has named George Henderson III chief executive officer effective Jan. 1. Henderson, 46, has been president and chief operating officer since April 1993. He will succeed Frank Greenberg, who is retiring.

Greenberg, 65, will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors after his retirement. Henderson will retain the title of president.

RETAIL

Gene Starr was appointed director of technology with Electronic Systems. Starr was manager of systems engineering in the data processing division with the Christian Broadcasting Network. Electronic Systems has retail operations in Virginia Beach and Newport News.

Claudia B. Gooch was named director of community planning and development with The Planning Council. Gooch has been with the human services management company for three years. She was a senior community planner and planning supervisor.

REAL ESTATE

Donald R. Crigger, vice president of the office leasing group with Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler in Norfolk, will also serve as assistant manager of the office leasing group. He will be working with property owners and developing new business in southside Hampton Roads. Crigger joined GSHH in 1989.

Keith Van Dyke was promoted to director of multi-family property management with Pembroke Commercial Realty in Virginia Beach. Van Kyke has been a property manager with the firm since 1990. MEMO: CORRECTION: Barbara Clevenger was promoted to assistant vice president

at Bank of the Commonwealth in Norfolk. Her name was misspelled last

week.
