Some party reminders in order to give friends and family the best gift of all: a safe and prosperous holiday and new year:
Ask your guests who among them will volunteer to be a designated driver.
Always serve food along with alcoholic beverages. High-protein foods like cheese and meats help moderate the effects of alcohol.
Don't force drinks on your guests.
Make non-alcohol beverages available to your guests.
Close the bar an hour before the party ends so your guests have a non-drinking period before driving home.
If, despite your best efforts, someone has had too much to drink, arrange transportation home with another guest, drive the person yourself, call a cab or ask your guest to spend the night. Do not let that person drive home.
