CATHERINE B. NELSON

Catherine Bell Nelson, resident of Oak Cliff since 1977, was born Dec. 22, 1923 in Concord, N.C. to the late J. Leslie and Catherine Means Bell and was niece of the late Sen. Sam J. Ervin Jr. She graduated from Fassifern School in Hendersonville, N.C. and attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. and prior to marriage was a photographer's model in New York City. She was a member of Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church for 17 years, a member of Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts, Cliff Hills Republican Women's Club, League of Women Voters, Oak Cliff Forum and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Paul A. Nelson; two sons, John P. Nelson of Greensboro, N.C. and Barry W. Nelson of Dallas; one daughter, Patricia Anne Miller and husband, Jeffrey of Miami, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Shirley Bell of Towson, Md.; four grandchildren, Brandon Nelson of Greensboro, N.C., Bridget Nelson of Atlanta, John Howland Miller and Megan Blair Miller of Miami, Fla.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1994 at Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church, 6000 S. Hampton Road with the Rev. Sandy McLachlan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church.
