Bishop Vincent Benjamin Davis Sr., 80, of the 500 block of Whitehaven Crescent, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 1994, in Norfolk Community Hospital.
He was born in Scotland Neck, N.C., and was the son of the late Benjamin and Arizona Higgs Davis. He was the widower of Ruby W. Davis. For over 50 years Bishop Davis had been a Pentecostal minister and at the time of his death he was pastor of St. Luke's Community Church. He was also a skilled craftsman and was self-employed as a contractor. He was a member of Campbell Masonic Lodge (NU)67, Prince Hall Affiliate and Alpha and Omega (NU)9 Consistory.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret D. Tucker of Willingboro, N.J.; a son, Vincent B. Davis Jr., Esquire of Bronx, N.Y.; three sisters, Shirley D. McGlone, Arizona D. Johnson and Hazel Johnson, all of Chesapeake; three brothers, Julian Davis of Baltimore, Melvin Davis of Norfolk and John Davis of Long Island, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bible Way Holiness Church, 2540 Dexter St., by Bishop William Faison. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Service. The family will be at his residence.
