MATTIE F. ALEXANDER

Mattie Forehand Alexander, 91, of the 1400 block of Hawthorne Drive, died on her birthday, Dec. 5, 1994, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Norfolk County and was the widow of Mark M. Alexander Sr. She was a lifelong member of South Norfolk Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

Mrs. Alexander was the beloved mother of four daughters, Anna J. Maples and Laura Fay Coulter, both of Virginia Beach, and Eleanor ``Teeny'' Howland and Carole L. Alexander, both of Chesapeake; two sons, Mark M. Alexander Jr. of Clinton, Miss., and Ronald J. Alexander of New York City; one sister, Lillie Belle Richardson of Roanoke; one brother, Robert L. Forehand of Chesapeake; two sisters-in-law, Laura A. Newbern and Nannie M. Forehand, both of Elizabeth City; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in South Norfolk Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Hughes Jr. and the Rev. Roger Mardis. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Foreign Missions offering in care of the South Norfolk Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
