Thelma R. Cheatham of the 2700 block of Beachmont Ave., retired co-owner of Gale's Grocery, died Dec. 6, 1994, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Cheatham was born in Norfolk County and retired 25 years ago after more than 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church Bute Street, Usher Board (NU)2, Love Ushers and Women's Chorus.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas V. Cheatham; two daughters, Judy M. Davis of Norfolk and Cynthia C. Southall of Chesapeake; a foster sister, Kathleen H. Foreman of Norfolk; a brother, James Teigle of Neptune, N.J.; two grandchildren, Du Shawn Davis of Mount Laurel, N.J. and Kristin M. Davis of Norfolk; two sons-in-law, William Davis Jr. of Norfolk and David W. Southall of Chesapeake; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church Bute Street by Dr. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family is receiving at the residence, 2733 Beachmont Ave. The remains will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Friday for viewing until funeral time. E.A. Hughes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
