The state of Tennessee has approved the reading/language arts program ``Sing, Spell, Read & Write,'' developed by Sue Dickson of Chesapeake, for use in public schools for pre-school through third grade.
Tennessee is the fourth state to adopt ``Sing, Spell, Read & Write,'' a reading program that integrates songs, games, colorful charts, books and a variety of entertaining activities using phonics to bring language to life. Other states that have adopted the program for statewide use are New Mexico, Oklahoma and Mississippi.
Dickson's company, International Learning Systems of Chesapeake, also produces similar sing-along programs, called ``Songs That Teach,'' on math, history and geography, which can be used in the classroom or for one-on-one instruction. by CNB
