William H. Parker Jr., born in Portsmouth, moved to New York in 1964, where he resided until his death Saturday, Dec. 3, 1994.
He was born to Thelma O. Parker of Portsmouth and the deceased William Henry Parker of Seaboard, N.C.
He attended the Portsmouth Public Schools; joined the U.S. Navy, and after his discharge became a member of the NSTS and the Seafarers International Union.
Survivors include his wife, Ermina Parker; one daughter, Tracy Renee Clark; one son-in-law, Christopher Clark; two grandsons; a granddaughter, (all of Bronx, N.Y.); his mother, Mrs. Thelma O. Parker; three sisters, Vernadell Edmonds (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Clementine Elliott and Joyce Chatman (Chesapeake/Portsmouth, Va.); one brother, Earl Lewis (Brooklyn); four sisters-in-law, Susie Overton of Portsmouth, Ruby Batts and Ethel Graves of Manhattan, N.Y., and Christine Pitchford of Richmond, Va.; three brothers-in-law, John Edmonds Jr. of Newark, N.J., James Elliott of Chesapeake and Leamon Chatman of Portsmouth; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 1994, at Ortiz Funeral Home on Fordham Road and Grand Concourse, Bronx, N.Y.
