DONALD B. SMITH

Donald Bennett Smith, 54, of the 300 block of Angus Road, died Wednesday in a Chesapeake hospital.

Mr. Smith was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and was the son of the late Donald Carter Smith and Nettie Bennett Smith. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, N.Y. He had retired from the U.S. Navy after 24 years of service and for the past 14 years had been employed as an air frames mechanic hydraulics technician. He was a member of VFW Post 392, Naval Fleet Reserve and the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include his wife, Joselita Escaros Smith; one daughter, Angelic Ann Smith of Chesapeake; four sons, Donald Fredrick Smith and Michael Bennett Smith, both of Virginia Beach, and Victor Allen Smith and Wayne Marshall Smith, both of Chesapeake; three brothers, David C. Smith of Suffern, N.Y., Stephen P. Smith of Glenrock, N.J. and Philip W. Smith of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oceana Chapel by the Rev. J. Robert Fiol. Burial will be at sea. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
