Officials in Southern Shores honored their most dedicated volunteers last week, presenting plaques and flowers to five long-time residents.
Mary and John Alexander, Charlie Hermann, John Whitlock and Paul Oswald each were recognized for their service. Most volunteers had worked with the town since its incorporation, in 1979.
Council members also dedicated a bench to former council member Wayne M. Gersen. Gersen, former Mayor Pro Tem of Southern Shores, died earlier this year. The bench will sit outside the town hall. by CNB
