Plaza Middle School's Black Culture Club is currently running its annual Christmas toy and clothing drive. All items collected will be given to a homeless shelter. Last year, the students collected and gave six boxes of toys and clothing to The Dwelling Place.
Plaza's SCA collected 2,493 non-perishable food items from the student body to donate to the Salvation Army and the Union Mission.
As a result of an October car wash, Plaza's Wave Riders made $1,260 to purchase books for the in-school readers workshop program. The readers workshop was created to increase student appreciation and enhance their love of literature.
The girls track team, under the leadership of Sharon Steverson, is celebrating its second year of remaining undefeated and placed second in the city championship for middle schools. by CNB
