ACTS OF KINDNESS

Kempsville High School and its partner in education, the Hampton Roads Rotary, are sponsoring a Random Acts of Kindness project at the school.

The kickoff will be Monday at 7 a.m. and will feature area celebrities such as D.J. Dozier, a former Kempsville student and national collegiate football champion and professional football and baseball player; Anne Donovan, women's assistant basketball coach at Old Dominion University; Jeff Capel, men's basketball coach at ODU; Mayor Meyera Oberndorf; and Rabbi Israel Zoberman.

The guests will challenge students to practice random acts of kindness to each other, strangers and in their classes.

On Tuesday, faculty, students and Rotary members will help pack and sort food for the needy at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia in Norfolk.

Individual classes and students will collect shoes, clothes, coats, food and toys during the week to be distributed to the needy during the holidays.

Students will be encouraged to continue activities year round. Each student who accomplishes a set amount of hours will be awarded a T-shirt from the Rotary. by CNB
