BROWN'S 3-POINTERS POWER BOOKERS

``Downtown'' Kenny Brown made six 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 24 points as Booker T. Washington High posted an 81-65 victory over Cardinal O'Hara Saturday in the Tidewater Basketball Classic at Norfolk State University's Echols Arena.

Brown, who also had 11 assists, made five of those 3-pointers in the second half, when the Bookers tightened the pressure on O'Hara and didn't allow the visitors from Springfield, Pa., to get into their offensive set.

The Bookers blew the game open in the fourth quarter, outscoring O'Hara 31-17.

Dewayne Jacobs added 20 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, Shaun Wilson had 16 and Ashley Berry 12 for the Bookers (3-1), who are ranked No. 2 in South Hampton Roads.

O'Hara (4-1) was led by was led by Greg Klein, who finished with 33 points.

MCI 65, PAUL ROBESON 45 Maine Central Institute posted a 65-45 victory in a game called off by officials with 4:07 remaining after Paul Robeson was whistled for its fourth technical foul.

Kellii Taylor had 16 points for Maine Central (3-1) when the game was called. Shamell Jones had 15 for Paul Robeson (3-1).

GRANBY 59, ATL. SHORES 47 The Comets' Shawn Hobson scored 26 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had four steals as No. 5 Granby downed No. 9 Atlantic Shores.

Clifton Townes chipped in 10 points for the Comets (5-0).

Hobson's point total almost single-handedly negated the production of Atlantic Shores big men Kenny Inge and Damon Thornton, who both finished with 14 points.

Atlantic Shores, which lost both its games in the Classic, fell to 6-2.

HERTFORD 60, INDIAN RIVER 46 Hertford County displayed excellent long-range shooting, making seven 3-point shots, in downing sixth-ranked Indian River.

Marvin Moore paced Hertford with 20 points while Dwayne Daniels chipped in with 14.

Indian River (1-2) was led by Jason Capel's 12 points. Terry Rouse and Ronnie Wilson had eight each.

PETERSBURG 59, SOUTHERN 47 Marco Harrison had 15 points, all in the second half, as the Crimson Wave improved to 5-0.

Dan Brooks led Petersburg with 16 points. Southern (0-2) was led by Dedric Galloway, who had 23 points, including five 3-pointers.

DEEP CREEK 63, NORVIEW 48 Javon Artis finished with 17 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Hornets evened their record at 2-2.

Antonio Rhodes added 14 and Chris Johnson had 12 for Deep Creek.

Norview (2-2) was paced by Dennis Anderson's 14 points.

L. TAYLOR 79, F. COLONIAL 44 Lamar Brown scored 15 points and Altulra ``Toot'' Young had 14 as Lake Taylor improved to 3-1.
