ISAAC B. KENNARD

CPO Isaac Bruce, U.S. Navy (Ret.), 80, of Yorktown, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 1994.

He was born in Morgan County, Ky., but was a resident of Norfolk for 35 years and a resident of Yorktown for five years.

Mr. Kennard was a U.S. Navy veteran of World war II and Korea. He retired from the Navy in 1956 after 22 years of service. He then went to work for the City of Norfolk, retiring in 1976 after 14 years. He was a member of the American Legion Newport News Post (NU)25 and the Naval Fleet Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Kennard; his daughters, Betty Dubois of Yorktown and Elizabeth Martin of McClenny, Fla.; five sisters; two brothers; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home by the Rev. Robert E. Friend Jr. Burial with military honors will be in Rosewood Memorial Park at approximately 3 p.m. Expressions may be made in the form of contributions to the Yorktown Volunteer Rescue Squad (NU)1 and (NU)4.
