TEEN SENTENCED FOR MURDER

A Norfolk teenager was sentenced Tuesday to life plus two years in prison for the 1992 murder of a cable lineman in Ocean View.

Darrell D. Jones, 19, was convicted on Sept. 13 of first-degree murder and use of a firearm. Judge John E. Clarkson sentenced him to the maximum penalty possible.

Jones was charged with the murder, on July 3, 1992, of Raymond A. Watson, whose body was found in the 6200 block of Chesapeake Blvd. Watson, a 32-year-old cable installer who lived in the 3400 block of E. Bonner Drive, had been shot with a handgun.

When Clarkson asked whether he had anything to say before sentencing, Jones cussed out the judge. He then spit on the prosecutor, Phillip Evans, as deputies led him back to a holding cell.
