The Downtown Norfolk Council has announced the contest winners of the Grand Illumination Parade and Lighted Boat Parade.
This year marked the 10th anniversary for the Holidays in the City events. An estimated combined crowd of 100,000 lined the streets and the Elizabeth River shoreline to watch both parades.
At the Grand Illumination Parade, 34 floats competed in the float contest and more than 70 motorized and walking units competed for a new award, the Crowd Pleaser. Also competing in the band contest were 15 area high school bands.
At the Lighted Boat Parade, 60 vessels competed for 11 different honors.
