A CHAIRMAN FOR THE 1994 HOLLY BALL, A FUND-RAISER FOR THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF THE KING'S DAUGHTERS

The Holly Ball is held each year to raise money for the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.

And Deanne Miller is a key reason this year's event was a success.

Miller, who has been on the board of the Holly Ball for the last eight years, chaired the 32nd ball at the Marriott earlier this month along with Barbara Rosenblum. Miller said that although the receipts haven't yet been totaled, it is expected to be as successful as last year's ball, which raised $65,000. About 750 people attended this year's ball. Tickets were $275 per couple, which included a gourmet meal.

``The ball is the single, biggest money-maker of all the Holly Festival events,'' Miller said.

She has been a member of the Norfolk City Union of The King's Daughters, which sponsors the Holly Festival, and a member of the Alice Davis Circle for 17 years.

Her other community work includes serving as a member of the Docent Council of the Chrysler Museum since 1986 and as a member of the Chrysler Council, a group that raises money to help with exhibits for the museum, in addition to the Director's Circle.

In addition, her design firm, Design Concepts, decorated a new house by Westside Builders for the Holly Homes Tour, another Holly Festival event.
