EDWIN E. BIBB

Edwin E. Bibb, 93, of Irvington, formerly of Norfolk, died Dec. 13, 1994.

Born in Orange County, Va., on Nov. 12, 1901, Mr. Bibb was the owner and operator of the Edwin E. Bibb & Co. Lighting Fixtures, 701 Colonial Ave., Norfolk. He was a member of Ruth Lodge (NU)89 AF & AM since April 14, 1939. He was chairman of the Civil Service Commission of Norfolk for 12 years; president of the Optimist Club of Norfolk; he was governor of 15th District Optimist Club; vice president of Optimist International Club District 15. Mr. Bibb served in the Va. Protective Force during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Hazel Putze Bibb; one daughter and son-in-law, Marian B. Johnson and Arthur C. Johnson of Wicomico Church; three granddaughters, Mrs. Martha Orling of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Genevieve Messmer of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Rebecca Jew of Virginia Beach, Va.; and four great-grandchildren.

Remains rest at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery.
