Velma Cassell Thompson, 45, of the first block of Dale Drive, died Dec. 12, 1994, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Portsmouth and was a member of New Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, Portsmouth.
Survivors include her husband, Willie D. Thompson; a daughter, Latoya L. Maben; a son, Ernest J. Cassell; two sisters, Edna Cassell and Ethel Mae Williams; and daughter-in-law, Esther L. Cassell, all of Portsmouth; and a host of family and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in New Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, Portsmouth, by Elder Thomas F. Goodwyn. Burial will be in the Cassell Family Cemetery, Chesapeake. Viewing will begin at noon Friday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The family will be at the home of her sister, Edna Cassell, 1402 Prentis Ave., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
