Landmark Communications Inc., Norfolk-based parent of The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star, said it acquired a minority stake in Physicians' On-line Inc. of Tarrytown, N.Y. Terms weren't disclosed. Privately held POL provides free clinical information to doctors via its on-line network, and sells ad space on the network to pharmaceutical companies. POL said it may launch additional on-line services for dentists, pharmacists and veterinarians. by CNB
