Mattie Frances Harper of the 100 block of Jones St., a housewife, died Dec. 16, 1994, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
Mrs. Harper was born in Princess Anne County. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Crestwood; past member of the senior choir; member of the Beautification Club and church day care; and was the widow of Clifton C. Harper, Sr.
Survivors include five daughters, Mattie Hurdle and Esther Scott, both of Chesapeake, Doris Howard, Trina Harper and Anita Harper, all of Cleveland; five sons, Clifton Harper Jr., of Virginia Beach, Chandler Harper, Ray Harper and Charles Harper, all of Chesapeake and Rudolph Harper of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Lillie Mae Young of Newark, N.J.; and a brother, Joscephus Sheppard of Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Crestwood, by the Rev. Willie Samuels. Burial will be in St. Luke A.M.E. Church Cemetery. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. The remains will be ready for viewing Monday at 4 p.m. The remains will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. The family will assemble at 3112 Misty Hollow Court, Chesapeake, at noon for the processional.
