Leroy John Butler Sr., 73, a retired painter, died Dec. 17, 1994, in Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
Mr. Butler was born in Windsor, Va. He had retired from the Civil Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by a brother, Johnnie Butler.
Survivors include his wife, Violet E. Butler of Gloucester; two daughters, Karen Cobb of Gloucester and Doreen Parsons of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; two sons, Leroy J. Butler Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., and Bruce Butler of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Virginia Davis and Nettie Harris, both of Norfolk, and Mattie Poulter of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Crowley Butler of Virginia Beach and Marcus Butler of Anchorage, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Hugh C. White III. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, Va. 23507.
