Mrs. Kathryn Louise (McGuire) Cowles, 93, the widow of Mr. J. Harold Cowles, died on Dec. 17, 1994, in a Virginia Beach nursing home. Mrs. Cowles was born in Hartford, Conn. and resided in Virginia Beach for the last 12 years.
Mrs. Cowles had three deceased sons, J. Harold Jr., Robert H. and Richard E. Cowles. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. K. Patricia Loftus of Cobalt, Conn. and her family, as well as, Mrs. Barbara L. Flanagan of Virginia Beach and her family; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Murphy of Coventry, Conn. and Mrs. Loretta M. Coughlin of Amesburg, Mass. Mrs. Cowles had 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. ``To know her, was to love her.''
Mrs. Cowles was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 1994, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Glastonbury, Conn. followed by interment at Mt. Saint Benedict's Cemetery in Hartford, Conn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the donor's favorite charity.
Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, will be sending the body to Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hartford, Conn., for services.
