A man shot Nov. 24 - during a dispute that had started days earlier over a pool game - died Saturday, police said.
Edward O'Neil Speight, 25, of the 200 block of Paladin Drive, had been in critical condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He had undergone surgery for a shotgun wound to his stomach.
Charged in the shooting is Kenneth W. Allen, 31, who faces counts of malicious assault and using a firearm in a felony. Police said the commonwealth's attorney will review the case and decide whether additional charges will be filed.
On Nov. 24, police were called to Allen's home in the 1600 block of Wicomico Lane in Brigadoon Pines. When officers arrived shortly before 11:30 a.m., Allen said he had shot one of three men who had come to his home and threatened him and his family.
Police said the shooting resulted from a dispute over a pool game two nights earlier. The suspect's mother, Myra Allen, said her son was trying to protect his family.
