A recent letter erroneously claimed that ``the overwhelming majority of Americans do not support abortion on demand.''
On the contrary, every credible poll I have seen proves that the majority of Americans do favor choice.
In Psychology Today, Louis Harris pollsters report that a 61 percent majority supports a woman's right to an abortion.
The New Republic reports: ``According to an AP/Media General Survey, 63 percent of voters would want their states to make abortion legal if Roe vs. Wade were reversed.''
Newsweek magazine reports that ``Gallop and Newsweek polls show that Americans favor the retention of Roe by 58 percent for and 34 percent against.'
A survey by Glamour magazine reveals that ``68 percent of Americans said the government had no business preventing a woman from having an abortion.''
I could cite many other recent surveys, but I'm sure this proves the point that Americans favor choice.
