Raymond Ruthwood Gunter, 79, of the 4100 block of Thoroughgood Drive, a retired self-employed concrete contractor, died Dec. 18, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Gunter, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, was the retired owner of Ray Gunter Concrete Construction. He retired in 1987 after 50 years service. He was a Presbyterian. Mr. Gunter attended Maury High School.
Survivors include his wife, Wilhelmina Krol Gunter; two daughters, Carolina Gunter Jeffrey and Paula Christine Gunter, both of Virginia Beach; an adopted son, George L. Gunter of Virginia Beach; and a sister, Pauline Gunter Santti of Virginia Beach.
A chapel service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road, by Dr. Richard J. Keever. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Bayside Presbyterian Church, the M.E. Cox Center, 644 N. Lynnhaven Drive, Virginia Beach, Va., or the charity of the donor's choice.
