Eva Mae Barnes Spiers, 80, of the 1000 block of Myrtle St., a retired legal secretary, died Dec. 18, 1994, in Chesapeake.
Mrs. Spiers was born in Bertie County, N.C. She had retired from Thomas Woodward Law Firm after 39 years. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, and was past president of the Wesley Bible Class. She was past worthy matron of Sinai Chapter 18, Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her parents, Ida Mae Phelps Barnes and William H. Barnes.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie Wilson Spiers; a brother, Hubert P. Barnes of Greenville, S.C.; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Hill Funeral Home by Dr. Alan Felumlee. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 2794, Norfolk, Va. 23501, or Main Street U.M.C. Memorial Fund, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
